The crisp air is ushering in a new season. Fall is here. The leaves are changing, campfires are being built, and attention is turning to a new season of fun and activities.

Fall sleep tips to get a great night of shuteye during the Autumn months.

Humidity - Fall may bring relief from hotter temperatures, but it also brings in dryer air. Dry air can impact your skin, lips and make it difficult to fall asleep. Prior to bed, apply a generous amount of lip balm as well as a face moisturizer to ensure your skin stays healthy and does not get irritated. If the air is seriously dry, you may consider a humidifier to add a little moisture back into the air to help with breathing and to prevent your nasal passages from drying out.

Heavyweight Champ - In summer, less is more. Shorts, tank tops, and light bed linens. This all changes in the Fall as we trade in our boating attire for more layers. Your bedding should take a similar wardrobe change - time to stow away the summer light weight down bedding and bring out the Fall comforter. Duvets come in various weights to ensure a great night’s sleep year around. For the Fall months, we recommend a medium weight comforter or down alternative, such as the AquaPlush Hypoallergenic Comforter. The hypoallergenic comforter is perfect if you’re looking for the luxurious warmth and comfort of a down comforter without the feathers.

Grab a Blanket to Snuggle Up - Whether you’re roasting s’mores by the campfire, cheering on your favorite football team at the stadium, or reading a good book on the back patio, having a simple, warm blanket is a must for autumn. Blankets should be simply elegant, cozy, and inviting. Here are a few of our favorite Fall Blankets for the Autumn months.

Limit the Caffeine - Pumpkin Spice Lattes may be on every corner, but be careful not to consume too many or too close to bedtime. The caffeine in your latte can impact your sleep cycle. Still craving fall flavor, but don’t want to interrupt your sleep? Try a yummy fall wassail or decaffeinated chamomile fall-spiced tea.

Exercise - In the summer, it is easy to stay active. The days are longer and we spend a lot of time with friends and family outside. It is important to continue to stay active in the fall. 20-minutes of daily activity can improve physical and mental health - plus help you fall asleep once you lay down to catch some Z’s. One tip though, don’t workout right before bed, it will become difficult for your system to ramp down and ease into a restful night’s sleep.

Fall Into a Great Night’s Sleep Tips:

1. Establish a sleep routine - focus on creating positive pre-bed and wake-up habits year around
2. Battle dry air with moisturizer, lip balm and a humidifier
3. Get enough shut eye, don’t skimp on sleep just because you’re traveling or watching your favorite football team
4. Exercise to get your mind and body rejuvenated
5. Limit caffeine and other stimulates
6. Turn off electronics at least 30 minutes before bed, pickup a paper book, we recommend a good fiction piece
7. Update bed linens for the cooler months - trade out light weight Summer down comforters for blankets and heavier Fall weight down comforters
